SENIOR TAX ADVISOR - BUCHAREST - HYBRID

 

The Role:

  • Apply expert knowledge of Romanian tax regulations to international transactions;
  • Assess tax issues arising from the client's business activities in Romania, as well as tax issues in the context of conflicts between different jurisdictions - within the EU, between the EU and third countries, and between non-EU countries;
  • Perform in-depth tax reviews, including due diligence and tax audits for the relevant tax periods;
  • Provide advice on transactions, acquisition structuring, and sales of companies - including new foreign entities inside or outside the EU - regarding Romanian tax regulations;
  • Identify and assess available forms of financing for commercial companies and other foreign entities, select the most suitable alternatives, and thoroughly evaluate the requirements and consequences of the chosen option;
  • Prepare management summaries of Romanian regulations, including assessments of structural and group impacts;
  • Provide consulting support on Romanian tax matters to the project team during negotiations of transaction terms with partners;
  • Monitor significant changes in Romanian tax and legal regulations;
  • Supervise compliance with Romanian legislation in individual companies, including recording and verifying tax returns in cooperation with the relevant project manager;
  • Collaborate with colleagues from other offices on international projects and within local teams.

 

Knowledge:

  • Relevant experience in tax consulting;
  • Excellent knowledge of, and up-to-date overview on, Romanian and European tax legislation and related regulations;
  • Experience in international taxation, transaction advisory, and tax due diligence;
  • Experience with international acquisitions and larger transactions (in millions of EUR);
  • Ability to manage ongoing collaboration on projects with managers, banks, and external legal advisors;
  • Proactively gather necessary information, supporting documents, and supplementary materials to enable a comprehensive assessment of transactions;
  • Ability to identify and evaluate risks, as well as assess the potential effects of proposed solutions on the companies within the client's group;
  • Strong skills in building and maintaining client relationships;
  • Proficient in English;
  • Assertive, friendly, and collaborative, with a strong team-oriented mindset.
